Tips for staying healthy

Eat a balanced diet: your daily food intake is extremely important for maintaining a healthy body. What you eat will affected your energy levels and how well you function both inside and out. Eating healthily means getting all your greens, a moderate amount of proteins, carbohydrates and all other foods groups including dairy. Eating a balanced diet means you don’t have to cut out your favourite treats, but you should consider them as such rather than staple food items.

Get physical: exercise is vital to keeping your body fit and healthy. Light exercises such as yoga and pilates will do wonders for your core strength and will keep you muscles supple. Cardio exercises will get the blood pumping round and will promote fat loss, and some resistance training will increase the amount of lean muscle tissue. Exercise is proven to keep the body and mind young and fit, and for maximum benefit you should heart your heart rate up at least 3-5 times a week. If you suffer from any medical problems you should check before starting a new exercise regime.

Avoid snacking: eating between meals is often a sign of boredom, and snack choices can be very poor. If you prefer to eat lighter meals and snack in between make sure you plan ahead. Stock healthy snacks such as fruit, nuts and vegetables, but beware of high in fat and sugar varieties. Be sure to limit the amount of snacks you eat and avoid grazing at your desk.

Start the day right: eat a healthy breakfast and fuel your body for the day ahead. Eating the right breakfast will avoid the temptation to snack on unhealthy sugary or fatty foods. Breakfast is also important for kick starting your body by providing the necessary energy to get you through the morning.
